“It’s easy to be positive when everything in life is going great. The hard part is staying positive when life kicks you down and knocks you around. It’s as if we see only a picture of someone enjoying the best moment of their life while the video of the struggle and pain it took to get to that moment sits in the closet. We don’t hear about the obstacles and adversities people had to encounter to create their success. The fact is no one goes through life untested. If you study history you will find that every great leader had to overcome adversity and challenges to define themselves and their success.”

A refreshing blog post on positivity in the face of adversity. Positivity isn’t about putting on a happy face in the times of great challenges and struggles. Instead it is about keeping/cultivating a degree of faith and belief in possibility, to cry as needed and yet not stay in it for too long even when life seemingly hurls one obstacle after another. Positive mindset in the midst of challenges can be enough to turn your health around.
I have lived with adrenal fatigue for 40 years. In the early years I was in the hospital once a month facing an adrenal crises. Each time a visit to the hospital occurred I was reminded that my life was going to be different. I learned I couldn’t travel to certain places (autoimmune diseases challenge the system when exposed to viruses). I learned that I would have to be extra careful in how I exerted myself. At first I felt defeated and angry. Yet, having this condition has given me a sense of determination and clarity that I am most grateful for. Yes, I am careful yet I also don’t let it stop me. I don’t know if my life will be cut short by a bad virus but I do know that I am going to live every day with a little more boldness and with a lot of positivity. I believe that this mindset of positivity in the midst of a challenge is what has helped me thrive and stay out of the hospital for 30 + years.
How are you navigating your way through life’s challenges? Are you amping up your positivity bank? (for every negative experience amp up with 3 positive ones)? Do you need support in increasing positivity in your life?
